HPE 3.2TB SAS 24G Mixed Use SFF BC Multi Vendor SSD (P49053-B21)

HPE's Solid State Disk Drives QuickSpecs list P49053-B21 as the HPE 3.2TB SAS 24G Mixed Use SFF BC Multi Vendor SSD: a 2.5-inch hot-plug drive in a Basic Carrier (BC), dual-port SAS, built on TLC NAND, with Gen10 Plus as the listed platform. PartSurfer maps it to spare P49749-001.

HPE rates it at 17,121 TB written, or 3 drive writes per day, with sequential reads and writes of up to 2,030 and 1,950 MiB/s and random 4KiB performance at queue depth 16 of 145,000 read and 160,000 write IOPS.

Dual-port SAS is the main difference from HPE's Value SAS drives: both ports can connect to the controller path, which supports redundant-path designs, and HPE positions full-performance SAS SSDs for mission-critical workloads with heavy reads and writes. Mixed Use (3 DWPD) suits databases, virtualization and logging that write more than Read Intensive drives allow.

To confirm fit, check that the server's SFF bays take Basic Carrier drives and that the controller supports SAS.

HPE customer bulletin a00150711 lists this drive among SAS 24G SFF SSDs that can suffer unrecovered read errors on firmware older than HPD4, and HPE calls the HPD4 update required; check the firmware level before the drive goes into an array.
