HPE 6.4TB SAS 24G Mixed Use SFF BC Multi Vendor SSD (P49057-B21)

HPE's Solid State Disk Drives QuickSpecs list P49057-B21 as the HPE 6.4TB SAS 24G Mixed Use SFF BC Multi Vendor SSD, the largest drive in HPE's 24G SAS Mixed Use Basic Carrier line. It is a 2.5-inch hot-plug, dual-port SAS drive on TLC NAND, with Gen10 Plus as the listed platform. PartSurfer maps it to spare P49751-001.

Endurance is the headline: HPE rates it at 32,241 TB written, or 3 drive writes per day, the highest total in the line. Sequential reads and writes reach 1,080 and 1,035 MiB/s, and random 4KiB performance at queue depth 16 is 135,000 read and 125,000 write IOPS.

Capacity and throughput trade off within this family. The 3.2TB P49053-B21 and 1.6TB P49049-B21 are rated at about 2,030

1,950 MiB/s sequential, nearly twice this drive, while the 6.4TB model holds twice the data per bay of the 3.2TB. Choose it when bay count or capacity per drive limits the build, for example dense virtualization hosts or write-heavy databases that outgrow 3.2TB drives, and choose the 3.2TB drive when sequential speed per drive matters more. The 800GB P49047-B21 is the entry model.

Dual-port SAS separates it from HPE's single-port Value SAS drives, and HPE positions full-performance SAS SSDs for mission-critical workloads with heavy reads and writes. Multi Vendor means HPE ships drives from more than one maker under the number, with each order a homogeneous set from one vendor.

To confirm fit, check that the server's SFF bays take Basic Carrier drives and that the controller supports SAS, and match P49751-001 when replacing a drive in an existing array.

HPE customer bulletin a00150711 lists this drive among SAS 24G SFF SSDs that can suffer unrecovered read errors on firmware older than HPD4, and HPE calls the HPD4 update required; check the firmware level before the drive goes into an array.
