HPE's ProLiant Gen10 memory matrix lists the HPE 64GB (1x64GB) Dual Rank x4 DDR4-2933 CAS-21-21-21 Registered Smart Memory Kit as option P00930-B21, spare P06192-001 and assembly P03053-0A1. The assembly number is the one printed on the module; PartSurfer describes it as 'HPE 64GB 2Rx4 PC4-2933Y-R Smart Kit'. PC4-2933Y-R reads as DDR4 at 2933 MT/s, registered. The DX380 Gen10 matrix lists the same spare and assembly under P18453-B21, an FIO (factory-installed) kit for HPE's DX servers.
Processor generation is the key fit rule. The matrix states that 2933 MT/s DIMMs are only supported with 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (82xx, 62xx and 52xx in HPE's note), while 2666 MT/s DIMMs are only for the 1st Generation (81xx, 61xx, 51xx). A Gen10 server still on 1st Gen processors should use the 2666 kits instead. On processors with a lower memory speed limit, the DIMM runs at the processor's maximum.
The matrix also says registered DIMMs and load-reduced DIMMs cannot be mixed in one server. The 128GB DDR4-2933 kit (P11040-B21) is a quad-rank LRDIMM, so it is not a mix-in upgrade for a server already populated with these RDIMMs. The 32GB DDR4-2933 RDIMM is P00924-B21 (spare P06189-001, assembly P03052-091).
To confirm fit, read the label on an installed DIMM or the iLO memory inventory, confirm the processor generation, and keep all DIMMs in the server registered.
