IBM feature #EM8C is a 32 GB CDIMM, 1600 MHz DDR3 DRAM memory feature for the IBM Power S824L, machine type 8247-42L. Each feature code equates to a single physical CDIMM.
Memory on the Power S824L is ordered and installed in pairs of the same capacity, with a minimum of 32 GB in the system and up to 16 CDIMMs of #EM8C. The server supports a maximum of 2 TB, which is sixteen 128 GB CDIMMs on two installed processor modules. The other DDR3 sizes for the system are 16 GB (#EM8B), 64 GB (#EM8D) and 128 GB (#EM8E). DDR4 modules, including the 32 GB #EM92, run at DDR3 speed on this system.
With one processor module the first identical pair goes into locations C16 and C18, and a second pair into C21 and C23. With two modules the first pair is in C16 and C18 and the second in C24 and C26. A pair has to be the same feature code, and one pair can differ from the next.
