N9K-M12PQ is the Nexus 9300 uplink module with twelve 40G QSFP ports, described by Cisco as "ACI capable Uplink Module for Nexus 9300, 12p 40G QSFP". Cisco lists it for the N93128TX, N9396PX and N9396TX.
Up to twelve QSFP+ ports are available for 40 Gigabit Ethernet, with eight active on the N93128TX and twelve on the N9396PX and N9396TX. Cisco states that the 40G ports on this module do not support break-out into four 10G ports; with a QSA adapter a port converts to a single 10G port instead.
The N9K-C9396PX takes one uplink module, either this one or the N9K-M6PQ. The N9K-M6PQ-E is the 6-port 40G ACI-capable module.
Lifecycle: Cisco announced end of life on August 5, 2017, set the last order date at May 1, 2018, and the last ship date at July 30, 2018. The last date of support was April 30, 2023. Cisco names no replacement part number and encourages migration to the Nexus 9300-EX and 9300-FX switches. The spare number is N9K-M12PQ=.
