Q1H48A is the HPE MSA 4TB 12G SAS 7.2K LFF (3.5in) Midline Self Encrypted hard drive. PartSurfer describes spare 873372-001 as a 4TB drive with a SAS interface and 12Gb/s transfer rate in the 3.5-inch large form factor, a FIPS 140-2 validated self-encrypting drive (SED) for use with MSA products.
The MSA 2040 and MSA 2050 QuickSpecs each list Q1H48A as their only LFF self-encrypting drive, paired with the SFF 1.2TB 10K SED P9M81A.
Encryption on these arrays is all-or-nothing: HPE says encryption can only be enabled when every drive in the array is an SED, so one non-SED drive blocks it, while an SED installed in a non-encrypting array runs unencrypted. The MSA 2040 needs controller firmware GL105 or later for SED support.
Fit check: buy Q1H48A to keep an encrypted MSA 2040 or 2050 all-SED, or to build one. For an unencrypted array, N9X94A is the 4TB 12Gb/s 512n Midline drive, and P9M81A the SFF SED.
