ST18000NM000J is the standard 512E model of the Seagate Exos X18 18TB SATA hard drive. It spins at 7200 RPM with 4.16 ms average latency and a 256MB (262,144KB) cache buffer. The drive has 18 heads on 9 disks, 512-byte logical sectors on 4096-byte physical sectors, and an areal density of 1146 Gb/in2.
The SATA interface has an I/O data-transfer rate of up to 600MB/s, and the sustained data transfer rate is up to 258 MiB/s (270 MB/s). Supported modes are PIO 0-4, Multiword DMA 0-2 and Ultra DMA 0-6, with Native Command Queuing, PowerChoice power savings, T13 Fast Format conversion and S.M.A.R.T. monitoring. The Worldwide Name uniquely identifies each drive.
Annualized failure rate is 0.35% based on 8760 power-on hours. Operating temperature is 5 to 60 C as reported by the drive. The drive weighs up to 670 g (1.477 lb) and draws a typical 2.6 A of 12 V startup current. The self-encrypting version of the same capacity is ST18000NM001J.
