Cisco Catalyst IE-3300-8T2S-E Rugged Industrial Switch, Network Essentials

A fanless, DIN-rail industrial Ethernet switch from Cisco's Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series, built for factory floors, utility cabinets and transport sites. The base unit has 8 x 10/100/1000 copper ports and 2 x 100/1000 SFP uplinks, with no PoE.

It is modular: add an IEM-3300-8T, IEM-3300-8S or IEM-3300-6T2S expansion module for 18 ports, or an IEM-3300-16T or IEM-3300-14T2S for 26. Cisco's PoE expansion modules (IEM-3300-8P, IEM-3300-16P) only plug into PoE base switches, so they will not add PoE to this model.

The -E suffix means Network Essentials. The -A version adds Network Advantage features that Cisco lists as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, PIM/MSDP multicast and MACsec-256.

Power is redundant dual DC inputs from 9.6 to 60 VDC, with a typical draw of 23 W. Cisco rates it from -40°C to +75°C in a fan- or blower-cooled enclosure, +70°C in a vented one and +60°C sealed. It is IP30 rated, and the series carries IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613, EN 50155 and Class I Div 2 approvals. Industrial protocols include REP ring, PROFINET MRP, CIP EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and IEEE 1588 PTP v2.

Siblings: the IE-3300-8P2S-E keeps the same port layout with a 240 W PoE+ budget, and the IE-3300-8T2X-E swaps the uplinks for 2 x 10G SFP+.

To confirm a replacement, match the base PID and licence suffix, and check which expansion module is fitted, since it is a separate part. SD card (SD-IE-16GB=) and USB storage are optional and do not ship by default.
