HPE 800GB SAS 24G Mixed Use SFF BC Multi Vendor SSD (P49047-B21)

HPE's Solid State Disk Drives QuickSpecs list P49047-B21 as the HPE 800GB SAS 24G Mixed Use SFF BC Multi Vendor SSD: a 2.5-inch hot-plug, dual-port SAS drive on TLC NAND in a Basic Carrier (BC), with Gen10 Plus as the listed platform. PartSurfer maps it to spare P49745-001.

HPE rates it at 4,380 TB written, or 3 drive writes per day, with sequential reads and writes of up to 1,090 and 1,040 MiB/s, and random 4KiB performance at queue depth 16 of 150,000 read and 135,000 write IOPS. Random read latency at queue depth 1 is listed at 94 microseconds.

At 800GB this is the smallest drive in HPE's 24G Mixed Use BC line, which makes it a fit for RAID 1 boot and log volumes, write caches and small, write-heavy databases where endurance matters more than capacity. Note that its sequential rates are about half those HPE lists for the 1.6TB (P49049-B21) and 3.2TB (P49053-B21) models, both 2,030

1,950 MiB/s; if throughput matters, the larger drives are faster as well as bigger. The 6.4TB P49057-B21 completes the line.

Dual-port SAS separates it from HPE's single-port Value SAS drives, and HPE positions full-performance SAS SSDs for mission-critical workloads with heavy reads and writes. For Gen10 Smart Carrier bays, the nearest Mixed Use SAS option is the 12G 1.6TB P49048-B21.

Multi Vendor means HPE ships drives from more than one maker under the number, with each order a homogeneous set from one vendor.

To confirm fit, check that the server's SFF bays take Basic Carrier drives and that the controller supports SAS.

HPE customer bulletin a00150711 lists this drive among SAS 24G SFF SSDs that can suffer unrecovered read errors on firmware older than HPD4, and HPE calls the HPD4 update required; check the firmware level before the drive goes into an array.
