HPE 6.4TB SAS 12G Mixed Use SFF SC Multi Vendor SSD, P49056-B21

P49056-B21 is HPE's 6.4TB 12Gb/s SAS solid-state drive in the Mixed Use endurance class, in the 2.5-inch SFF form factor with a hot-plug Smart Carrier (SC). PartSurfer lists the service spare as P49750-001 (6.4TB SFF SAS MU, digitally signed firmware, SC).

It is a Multi Vendor SKU. HPE qualifies drives from more than one maker under the same number, and all of them meet one published specification. Mixed Use is HPE's middle endurance class, aimed at workloads with a regular share of writes such as databases, virtualization and analytics. It sits above Read Intensive drives for write endurance.

HPE lists it as a drive option in the QuickSpecs for the DL380 Gen10, DL560 Gen10 and ML350 Gen10 and for the AMD-based DL325 Gen10 Plus and DL385 Gen10 Plus, all of which use Smart Carrier drive bays. PartSurfer also shows the spare in HA810 and HA820 server nodes and in a four-drive kit.

Full SAS drives like this one support dual-port connection, unlike the single-port Value SAS line. The QuickSpecs section for this SKU does not list endurance or throughput figures, so check the drive label for the vendor model if you need exact DWPD. The Smart Carrier fits Gen8 to Gen10 SFF bays and some Gen10 Plus AMD servers. Gen10 Plus Intel servers and later generations use Basic Carrier (BC) drives, so a different SKU is needed there.
