WS-C4948E-F is the Catalyst 4948E-F, the back-to-front airflow version of the Cisco Catalyst 4948E: 48 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports and four 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP/SFP+ uplinks in a 1RU chassis. The WS-C4948E itself moves air front to back.
Cisco rates both at 176 Gbps switching capacity and forwarding of 131 Mpps for IPv4 and 110 Mpps for IPv6. The switch has 1 GB of SDRAM, a 1 GHz CPU and a 17.5 MB shared buffer, and software tiers of LAN Base, IP Base and Enterprise Services.
Power is an optional internal 1+1 hot-swap AC or DC supply. AC input is 90 to 264 VAC and DC input is -40.5 to -72 VDC. Typical draw is 230 W at 25 C and maximum 275 W at 55 C, with heat output of 1173 BTU/hr on AC and 1251 BTU/hr on DC.
The chassis measures 4.4 x 43.9 x 49.3 cm (1.75 x 17.3 x 19.4 in) and weighs 8.62 kg (19 lb) fully loaded or 6.35 kg (14 lb) as a base system.
The -F version needs Cisco IOS 12.2(54)WO as a minimum, where the WS-C4948E needs 12.2(54)SG, and its MTBF is 149,261 hours against 145,422. The 300 W DC power supply is available for the WS-C4948E but is not currently planned for the -F.
