ASR1000-ESP40 is the Cisco ASR 1000 Series 40-Gbps Embedded Services Processor, the forwarding engine of the router. Its memory is 1 GB of Cisco Flow Processor memory, 8 GB of DRAM, 40 Mb of TCAM and 256 MB of packet buffer memory.
It installs in the ASR1004, ASR1006, ASR1006-X, ASR1009-X and ASR1013 chassis and works with the ASR1000-RP2 and ASR1000-RP3 route processors. Minimum software is Cisco IOS XE 3.1.0S, and the ASR1004 needs 3.2.0S or later. On the ASR1006, ASR1006-X, ASR1009-X and ASR1013, two ESPs can run as a 1+1 redundant pair, with online insertion and removal, NSF/SSO and ISSU available when dual route processors and dual ESPs are fitted.
Compatible hardware includes the ASR1000-SIP10 and ASR1000-SIP40 SPA interface processors, the ASR1000-6TGE and ASR1000-2T+20X1GE fixed Ethernet line cards, and the ASR1000X-AC-1100W and ASR1000X-DC-950W power supplies. The ESP is 0.92 x 16.7 x 14.19 in (0.023 x 0.428 x 0.369 m) and draws 267 W maximum, 227 W typical.
The ASR1006-X chassis, the ASR1000-RP2 route processor and the ASR1000-6TGE line card can be matched with this ESP.
