Seagate Exos X16 16TB SATA 6Gb/s SED-ISE 7200 RPM 3.5-Inch Hard Drive, ST16000NM005G

ST16000NM005G is the SED-ISE FastFormat model of the Seagate Exos X16 SATA 16TB hard drive. SED-ISE is the Instant Secure Erase self-encrypting tier of the series; the standard 16TB model is ST16000NM001G and the plain self-encrypting model is ST16000NM003G. The drive uses a helium-sealed design with a 7200 RPM spindle, 4.16 ms average latency and a multisegmented 256MB cache.

FastFormat lets the drive switch between 512e (512-byte) and 4Kn (4096-byte) sector sizes; all data is erased when the routine runs. The SATA interface runs at 6.0 or 3.0 Gb/s through a single port. Maximum sustained transfer at the outer diameter is 261 MB/s (249 MiB/s), and random read and write at 4K QD16 with write cache disabled is 170 and 440 IOPS. Rotational vibration tolerance at 20 to 1500 Hz is 12.5 rad/s2.

MTBF is 2,500,000 hours with a 0.35% annualized failure rate over 8760 power-on hours, and nonrecoverable read errors are limited to one sector per 10E15 bits. Average idle power is 5.00W and maximum operating power is 10.0W for random read and 6.3W for random write, from +12V and +5V supplies. The drive measures 1.028in by 4.010in by 5.787in (26.11mm by 101.85mm by 147.00mm) and weighs 1.477 lb (670g).
