Seagate BarraCuda 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM 3.5-Inch Hard Drive, ST2000DM008

ST2000DM008 is the 2TB, 7200 RPM model in the Seagate BarraCuda 3.5-inch HDD range, which is aimed at desktop or all-in-one PCs, home servers and entry-level direct-attached storage devices. The 2TB capacity also appears in a 5400 RPM model, ST2000DM005, and the 1TB 7200 RPM sibling is ST1000DM014.

The drive has a SATA 6Gb/s interface with 6.0, 3.0 and 1.5 Gb/s link speeds supported, 512e sectors, a 256MB multisegmented cache and shingled magnetic recording (SMR). The maximum sustained data rate from the outer diameter on reads is 220MB/s. Advanced Power modes help save energy without giving up performance.

Power figures are a 2.0A startup current, 5.1W in typical operation, 3.9W idle on average and 0.3W in standby and sleep, with supply tolerances of ±5% on 5V and ±10% on 12V. Reliability limits are 600,000 load-unload cycles, one nonrecoverable read error per 10E14 bits, 2400 power-on hours per year and a workload rate limit of 55TB per year. The drive measures 20.20mm (0.795in) high, 101.85mm (4.010in) wide and 146.99mm (5.787in) deep, weighs a typical 415g (0.915lb) and is halogen free.
