0N96X: Dell 12TB 3.5in HDD Toshiba MG09SCA12TEY

0N96X is a Dell 12TB 3.5 inch 7.2K rpm hard drive that corresponds to the Toshiba MG09SCA12TEY. It is formatted 512e, runs firmware EM06, is supported in MD1400 and MD1420 storage enclosures, and is not self-encrypting (non-SED).

Toshiba MG09SCA12T is a 12 TB model of the MG09 cloud-scale capacity series, with a SAS-3.0 interface that runs at 12, 6, 3 or 1.5 Gbit/s. The AY and EY suffixes mark the SIE (Sanitize Instant Erase) versions, which support the sanitize device feature set and do not support TCG, so they carry no self-encryption. The E in EY means 512 byte emulation: the host sees 512 B blocks (or 520 B, 528 B) while the disk stores 4096 B (or 4160 B, 4224 B), with read-modify-write handled by the drive.

The platters turn at 7200 rpm and feed a 512 MiB data buffer. Maximum sustained data rate is 268 MiB/s typical, and average seek time is 7.5 ms for reads and 8.6 ms for writes. Persistent Write Cache protects cached writes in serial flash if power is cut unexpectedly.

The body is a 3.5 type drive 26.1 mm high, 101.85 mm wide and 147.0 mm long. Acoustic sound power is 20 dB at idle and 32 dB while seeking, and start-up and stop times are 20 s typical. Operating shock is 70 G for 2 ms and operating vibration is 0.75 G from 5 to 300 Hz.
