383N9 is a Dell 1.8TB 2.5 inch 10K rpm hard drive that corresponds to the Toshiba AL14SEB18EP. It is formatted 4Kn, runs firmware DN04, is supported in MD1400 and MD1420 storage enclosures, and is not self-encrypting (non-SED).
AL14SEB18EP comes from the Toshiba AL Series of enterprise performance hard drives. In the model number the letter P after E marks 4Kn sectors, with Q for 512e and N for 512n, and the digits 18 stand for 1,800 GB. The AL14SEB 4Kn line covers 600, 900, 1,200 and 1,800 GB, all in a 2.5 inch air-filled SAS 12 Gbit/s design.
Spindle speed is 10,500 rpm and the buffer is 128 MiB. Sustained data rate for the 4Kn models is 237 MB/s at 7.8 W typical operating power. Security options for the family are SIE, SED and FIPS.
The MTTF is 2.0 million hours, the unrecoverable error rate is 1 in 10^16, duty is 24/7 and the rated workload is unlimited. Persistent Write Cache technology protects data during sudden power loss, and the block size can be chosen to suit the host, which makes the series suited to business database, online transaction and virtualized storage systems.
