IBM feature #EM91 is a 16 GB DDR4 CDIMM memory feature with an access rate of 1600 MHz for the IBM Power S814 and Power S824 (machine type 8286, models 41A and 42A) and the Power S824L (machine type 8247, model 42L). The DDR4 features #EM91, #EM92, #EM93 and #EM94 operate at DDR3 speeds in these servers. One #EM91 feature is one physical 16 GB CDIMM, and its DDR3 counterpart is #EM8B.
The CDIMM carries a memory buffer with a 16 MB L4 cache, and this cache cuts latency for cached blocks by up to 55%. All memory upgrades go in pairs of CDIMMs with the same capacity. The Power S814 supports up to eight CDIMM slots with at least 16 GB installed, while the Power S824 and Power S824L support up to sixteen slots with at least 32 GB installed. The maximum quantity of #EM91 is sixteen on the Power S824L.
The 4-core processor feature #EPXK on the Power S814 allows only #EM8B as its memory size.
