IBM feature #ELS6 is a 960 GB SATA solid-state drive for the IBM Power System S822LC for High Performance Computing, machine type 8335, model 8335-GTB. Two 960 GB SATA SSDs (#ELS6) are one of the drive choices for the server's two small form factor bays, alongside the 480 GB (#ELS5), 1.92 TB (#ELSZ) and 3.84 TB (#ELU0) SATA SSDs and the 1 TB (#ELD0) and 2 TB (#ES6A) 7200 RPM NL SATA disk drives.
The internal storage is a backplane for two 2.5-inch SFF Gen4 SATA bays that take either HDDs or SSDs, driven by one integrated SATA disk controller. That controller is non-RAID (JBOD), there are no external SAS ports, and the split backplane feature is not supported. The bays use an SFF-4 carrier, also called a Gen4 tray, so drives built for the SFF-3 or SFF-2 carriers of other Power Systems servers do not fit. All SFF-4 bays support concurrent maintenance and hot-plug.
The 960 GB solid-state drive parts for the 8335-GTB are FRU 00LY411 and FRU 00LY412, two per system.
