IBM feature #EM65 is a 128 GB DDR4 Memory module, CCIN 324C, a dual-rank (2R) registered DIMM built with 8 Gb memory density, for POWER9 servers. Each feature code equates to a single memory DIMM, and the FRU number is 78P4200. The feature is orderable on the Power AC922 (8335-GTC, GTG, GTH, GTW and GTX), the Power L922 (9008-22L), the Power S922 and S924 (9009-22A, 9009-22G, 9009-42A and 9009-42G) and the Power H922 and H924 (9223-22H and 9223-42H). It is not available for the Power S914.
On the AC922 all 16 memory slots must be populated with memory modules of the same size and type, so 16 of #EM65 provide the 2048 GB maximum, and memory feature codes cannot be mixed. On the L922, S922 and S924 the minimum quantity is 0 and the maximum is 32, ordered in pairs, with a pair required to be the same size, rank and memory density. One processor supports 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 memory modules, so a single-processor L922 reaches 2 TB with sixteen 128 GB modules and a two-processor system reaches 4 TB with thirty-two. 128 GB modules located in the same channel must be made by the same manufacturer, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. or SK hynix Inc.
The 128 GB module runs at 2400 Mbps with one DIMM per port and 2133 Mbps with two DIMMs per port. The 128 GB module with 16 Gb density (#EM7C) is a separate feature and needs firmware level FW950.00 or later.
