IBM feature #EM4B is a 16 GB memory feature of two 8 GB DIMMs, 1066 MHz, 4 Gb DDR3 DRAM, CCIN 31FA, for the POWER7+ Power 720 (8202), Power 740 (8205), Power 710 and Power 730 (8231), Power 750 (8408) and Power 760 (9109). The two DIMMs are installed together on a memory riser card, and the 8 GB DIMM carries FRU number 78P1914. A system needs a minimum of one memory feature on each riser card, and empty riser cards are not allowed.
On the Power 710 and Power 730 a riser card has four DIMM slots and a system can be ordered with a single memory feature; the second feature on the same riser card does not have to match the first. On the Power 720 and Power 740 a riser card has eight sockets, and the base system includes one. The Power 750 and Power 760 take a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 32 of this feature on memory riser cards (#EM01, CCIN 2C1C), and need at least 32 GB of memory with one or two processor modules, which two of #EM4B provide with one module. A riser card can hold two, four, six or eight DIMMs, with at most two different feature sizes.
Features #EM08, #EM4B, #EM4C and #EM4D can be mixed on the same riser card as long as one DIMM type fills a DIMM quad, and each DIMM within a quad must be equivalent. PowerLinux systems order the same 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) memory as #EL2Q or #EL2S.
