IBM feature #ESBK is a 1.55 TB Enterprise SAS 4k SFF-3 solid-state drive for IBM i, CCIN 5B15, for IBM Power Systems machine types 9009 and 9223. It is a 2.5-inch SAS SSD in a Gen3 (SFF-3) carrier with 4224-byte sectors, and the part numbers assigned to CCIN 5B15 report 1551 GB. The maximum quantity is 18 on the Power S914 (9009-41A), Power S924 (9009-42A) and Power H924 (9223-42S).
CCIN 5B15 is carried by four feature codes with the same 1.55 TB Enterprise SAS 4k SFF-3 description: #ESBK and #ESNH for IBM i, and #ESBJ and #ESNG for AIX and Linux, where #ESBJ and #ESNG are also the codes for IBM i configurations that run through VIOS. Enterprise SAS SSDs of this generation use 3D NAND technology and are rated at 10 drive writes per day, calculated over five years.
IBM i support depends on the server generation. On POWER9 systems any supported IBM i release can use the drive, while POWER8 systems need IBM i 7.4, IBM i 7.3 Technology Refresh 3 or IBM i 7.2 Technology Refresh 7 or later. FRU numbers 00LY335, 00LY605, 01LU870, 01LU933, 02YC572, 02YC682 and 02YC880 are assigned to CCIN 5B15; SFF-2 drives do not fit the SFF-3 bays.
