G0M43A is the HPE MSA 900GB 6G SAS 10K SFF (2.5in) Enterprise Self Encrypted hard drive. Its spare, 757349-001, is described in PartSurfer as a 900GB SAS MSA drive, Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) self-encrypting drive (SED), 10,000 RPM, 2.5-inch SFF, 6 Gb/s.
Because it is an MSA drive, it belongs in an MSA array or disk enclosure rather than a ProLiant server; HPE's MSA QuickSpecs state that MSA HDDs and SSDs are for use with MSA storage systems only.
Self-encrypting drives need array support. HPE's MSA 2040 QuickSpecs say SED functionality requires controller firmware GL105 or later, so on an MSA 2040, check the firmware level before adding this drive. SEDs are there to protect data at rest and to help meet regulatory mandates.
The spare number 757349-001 also has its own listing on this site; both point to the same drive.
Fit check: C8S59A is the non-encrypted 900GB 10K dual-port MSA drive, and R0R52A is a later MSA FIPS TAA SSD for Gen6 arrays.
