X8HTD is the Dell part number for a 3.2TB 2.5 inch 12Gbps SAS SSD with Toshiba model number KPM5XVUG3T20. It belongs to the PM5-V series, tuned for mixed use work such as SQL servers, media streaming, data warehousing and web serving, and the KPM5X prefix marks the Sanitize Instant Erase option.
At 3,200 GB the drive reads 128 KiB sequential blocks at 2,100 MB/s and writes them at 2,100 MB/s. Random 4 KiB reads reach 370K IOPS and random writes reach 120K IOPS in dual port mode. Endurance is 3 drive writes per day with a 100 percent random write workload, on 64-layer BiCS FLASH TLC memory.
The SAS-3 interface runs at 12.0 Gbit/s and falls back to 6.0, 3.0 and 1.5 Gbit/s, in single or dual port form. Power-loss protection, end-to-end protection with T10 DIF, T10 multi-stream write and pin-3 power disable are part of the design. Typical power is 5.0 W, MTTF is 2,500,000 hours, and the drive operates between 0 and 60 C and tolerates 1,000 G of shock for 0.5 ms.
The case is 15.0 mm high by 69.85 mm wide and up to 100.45 mm long, at 130 g maximum. Smaller PM5-V drives in the Dell range include the 1.6TB GT1JH and the 400GB 3YPRY.
