FPW68 is the Dell part number for a 600GB 12Gb/s SAS 2.5 inch 15,000 rpm hard drive built on the Seagate ST600MP0036. In the Exos 15E900 family this is the 512 native Instant Secure Erase model of the 600 GB capacity; the standard 512 native model is the ST600MP0006 and the SED model the ST600MP0016.
The Exos 15E900 spins at 15K rpm with 2.0 ms average latency and carries a 256MB data buffer. Its SAS interface runs at 3.0, 6.0 or 12.0 Gb/s with a maximum instantaneous rate of 1200 MB/s per port, and sustained transfer is 205 to 300 MB/s on 512N models. Enhanced Caching adds a 3.2MB NVC-backed write cache on 512N drives, and the dual port controller supports up to 32 initiators.
Reliability is rated at 2,000,000 hours MTBF and a 0.44 percent annualized failure rate. Logical block sizes are 512 (default), 520 and 528 bytes, and the 2.5 inch case matches the industry standard SFF dimensions with vertical, horizontal or top down mounting.
