The Seagate ST9300603SS under Dell part number T871K is the standard 300GB model of the Savvio 10K.3 SAS family. The only other capacity in the family is the 146GB ST9146803SS, and self-encrypting versions carry ST9300503SS and ST9300403SS numbers.
Four read/write heads work on 10,000 rpm media with 3.0 ms average rotational latency. A 16 Mbyte buffer fronts the platters, with about 13,000 kbytes usable as cache. The SAS interface links at 6Gb/s for 600 MB/s per port, and sustained transfer runs from 67 to 124 MB/s. Logical blocks of 512 (default), 520 or 528 bytes are supported.
Reliability is 1,600,000 hours MTBF at a 0.55 percent annualized failure rate. Typical idle dissipation at 6Gb operation is 3.82 W, and the drive weighs 0.50 lb (0.227 kg). Average seek including controller overhead is 4.2 ms for reads and 4.6 ms for writes, and the drive operates from 5 to 55 C ambient.
Another 10K Seagate drive is the 745GC, and Dell hard drives has the full range.
