3573-8547 is the IBM Ultrium 8 half-high Fibre Channel tape drive sled for the TS3100 and TS3200 tape libraries, machine type 3573. It is feature code 8547, and the replacement part number for the sled is 00GH806. The drive has a single-port 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel interface on one LC connector.
Sustained native transfer rate is 300 MB/s. An LTO Ultrium 8 cartridge holds 12 TB native, or 30 TB at 2.5:1 compression, and M8 cartridges, which are new LTO-7 cartridges initialized for LTO-8, hold 9 TB native. The drive reads and writes Ultrium 8, Ultrium 7 and M8 cartridges and cannot read or write Ultrium 6 or earlier tapes. Initialized M8 cartridges cannot be read in an LTO-7 drive.
Firmware E.80 or later is required in the library for Ultrium 8 drives, and F.00 or later for M8 media. The sled is a customer-replaceable unit designed for quick removal and replacement. For LTO-6 tapes, an Ultrium 6 drive such as the Ultrium 6 half-high 8 Gbps Fibre Channel tape drive, feature 8348, is the matching Fibre Channel option.
