3573-8548 is the IBM Ultrium 8 half-high SAS tape drive sled for the TS3100 and TS3200 tape libraries, which are machine type 3573. It is feature code 8548, and the replacement part number for the sled is 00GH808. The drive has dual 6 Gb/s SAS ports on two SFF-8088 connectors that work with SAS-1 and SAS-2 cables.
Sustained native transfer rate is 300 MB/s. An LTO Ultrium 8 cartridge holds 12 TB native, or 30 TB at 2.5:1 compression, and an M8 cartridge, which is a new LTO-7 cartridge initialized for LTO-8, holds 9 TB native. The drive reads and writes Ultrium 8, Ultrium 7 and M8 cartridges but cannot read or write Ultrium 6 or earlier tapes.
The library needs firmware E.80 or later for Ultrium 8 drives and F.00 or later for M8 media, and the host and any applications that use their own device drivers must be at levels that support Ultrium 8. The sled is a customer-replaceable unit designed for quick removal and replacement. LTO-6 cartridges need an Ultrium 6 or Ultrium 7 drive, for example the Ultrium 6 half-high 6 Gbps SAS tape drive, feature 8347.
