HPE 666987-B21 Small Form Factor Hard Drive Blank Kit

666987-B21 is the HP Small Form Factor Hard Drive Blank Kit, used to fill empty 2.5-inch (SFF) drive bays. PartSurfer maps it to spare 670033-001, a hard drive blank (cover) to fill empty SFF drive bays in Gen8 servers.

The ProLiant DL360p Gen8 QuickSpecs explain how the kit fits into ordering. Pre-configured models ship with some blanks installed, and customers who need more can order 666987-B21 for SFF bays or 666986-B21, the LFF Gen8 Hard Drive Blank Kit, for 3.5-inch bays. Factory integrated models are populated with enough blanks for the number of drives ordered with the server.

The DL360p Gen8 comes with 8 SFF bays plus an optical bay, 10 SFF bays without optical, or 4 LFF bays with optical, and HPE notes that LFF versions cannot be converted from SFF models or the reverse. The kit is also listed under Hard Drive Blank Kits in the ProLiant DL380 Gen10 QuickSpecs, while PartSurfer describes the 670033-001 cover as a Gen8 part.

Count the empty SFF bays and confirm the server uses 2.5-inch drive carriers before ordering. Servers with 8 SFF bays also have an optical bay, which takes drives such as the 9.5mm DVD-RW 652241-B21; other DL360p Gen8 parts are on our ProLiant DL360p Gen8 hub.
