HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 Module for Synergy

867796-B21 is the HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 Module for Synergy, the primary module in HPE's primary and satellite design. The satellite is the HPE Synergy 50Gb Interconnect Link Module, 867793-B21, so a frame can reach further frames without a top-of-rack switch.

HPE gives the module up to six QSFP28 uplink ports at 100 Gbps Ethernet each. Each can be set to 1x100Gb, 4x25Gb, 1x40Gb, 4x10Gb, 1x25Gb or 1x10Gb Ethernet, or to 1x32Gb, 1x16Gb or 1x8Gb Fibre Channel. In 4x32Gb Fibre Channel splitter mode each lane is limited to 25 Gbps, and a full 32 Gbps needs a QSFP28/SFP28 adapter with a 32Gbps FC transceiver in a single 1:1 uplink. Two SFP+ ports (X1 and X2) serve Image Streamer and can also act as uplinks.

Through the Synergy frame midplane the module gives two downlink lanes to each of the 12 compute modules. HPE lists 24 x 25Gb downlinks, 12 x 25Gb or 12 x 50Gb Ethernet to compute module adapters, and four 300Gb interconnect link ports. Each FlexNIC or FlexHBA is adjustable from 250Mb to 25Gb in 250Mb steps on a 2-port 25GbE adapter, or from 500Mb to 50Gb in 500Mb steps on a dual-port 50Gb adapter.

Other HPE figures: a 6.4 Tbps line-rate, full-duplex, non-blocking bridging fabric, sub-1.0 microsecond Ethernet latency, jumbo frames up to 9,216 bytes, 48K L2 MAC entries and 4K IPMC entries. Power is 12V at 20A (240 W maximum) and the module weighs 4.22 kg (9.3 lb). Management is through the composer-based HPE OneView built into every frame, with SNMPv1 and v2 monitoring and SNMPv3 management.

HPE lists the TAA-compliant version as 867796-B22 and names these partners: the 4820C 10/20/25Gb adapter (876449-B21), the 6820C 25/50Gb adapter (P02054-B21) and the 6310C 25/50Gb adapter (P64724-B21).
