The IBM 9105-22B is the Power S1022s, a one- or two-socket Power10 rack server in a 2U chassis. Each socket carries an entry single-chip module processor, either a 4-core or an 8-core part running at a typical 3.0 to 3.90 GHz, and when both sockets are filled they must be the same processor model.
Memory sits in 16 DDIMM slots, of which eight are usable with one socket populated. DDIMMs use DDR4 or DDR5 chips, which cannot be mixed in one server, and peak transfer reaches up to 409 GBps per socket with DDR4 and up to 819 GBps with DDR5. Capacity reaches 2 TB with both sockets populated, with at least 32 GB installed per socket.
The server has 10 usable PCIe adapter slots, five of them usable with one socket populated: eight slots take PCIe Gen5 adapters and two, one per socket, are Gen4. At least one network adapter is required. A PCIe expansion drawer, EMX0 or ENZ0, adds slots, up to 30 adapters in a two-socket system.
Internal storage is NVMe only: up to eight U.2 devices for as much as 51.2 TB in one server. More HDD or SSD capacity connects through the NED24 NVMe expansion drawer or through Fibre Channel storage. The S1022s needs two power supplies and includes PowerVM Enterprise Edition.
The chassis is 482 mm wide, 813 mm deep and 86.5 mm high and weighs 31.75 kg; its depth exceeds earlier 2U Power servers, so IBM recommends a rack extension in an Enterprise S42 rack.
IBM made the 9105-22B generally available on July 22, 2022 and withdrew it from marketing on July 31, 2026.
