C9407R is the 7-slot chassis of the Cisco Catalyst 9400 modular campus switch. Five slots take line cards and slots 3 and 4 are reserved for supervisor engines, with supervisor redundancy supported. Cisco supports the C9400X-SUP-2XL, C9400X-SUP-2, C9400-SUP-1XL, C9400-SUP-1XL-Y and C9400-SUP-1 in the C9407R.
The chassis has eight power supply bays, for 3200 W AC, 2100 W AC and 3200 W DC supplies, and one bay for a dual serviceable fan tray. Cisco rates PoE at up to 4320 W per slot for the current line card, although the chassis can handle roughly 4800 W per slot.
Bandwidth per line-card slot depends on the supervisor: 480 Gbps with the C9400X-SUP-2XL, 240 Gbps with the C9400X-SUP-2, 120 Gbps with the C9400-SUP-1XL or C9400-SUP-1XL-Y, and 80 Gbps with the C9400-SUP-1. Port maximums in this chassis are 240 for 1G and 10G copper or fibre, 108 for 25G, 60 for 40G and 20 for 100G, with 25G, 40G and 100G needing a SUP-2 or SUP-2XL.
It stands 10 RU high, measures 17.41 x 17.30 x 16.30 inches, weighs 63.0 lb (28.58 kg) with the fan tray and has an MTBF of 1,571,010 hours. Cisco IOS XE 16.6.1 or later is the minimum, rising to 17.7.1 for the SUP-2. Accessory spares are C9407-FAN=, C9407-ACC-KIT=, C9407-RACK-19-KIT= and C9407-SHELF-KIT=. Matching parts include the C9400-SUP-1XL supervisor engine, the C9400-PWR-3200AC power supply and the C9400-LC-48U line card.
