Cisco Catalyst 9500 32-Port 40G/100G QSFP28 Switch

Cisco lists the C9500-32C, ordered as C9500-32C-A or C9500-32C-E, as a Catalyst 9500 1RU switch with 32 QSFP28 ports, each at 40G or 100G and nonblocking. Breakout works on 24 of the 32 ports, giving up to 96 ports of 10G or 96 of 25G; ports 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 do not support breakout.

The UADP 3.0 hardware switches up to 6.4 Tbps, at line rate for packets of 187 bytes and larger, with forwarding up to 2 billion packets per second. Cisco gives 82,000 MAC addresses, 256,000 IPv4 and IPv6 routes, 90,000 host entries, 32,000 multicast routes, 4,094 VLAN IDs and jumbo frames to 9,216 bytes, with 16 GB each of DRAM and flash. Minimum software is Cisco IOS XE 16.8.1a.

Power is by the C9K-PWR-1600WAC-R (AC) or C9K-PWR-1600WDC-R (DC), two bays in 1+1 redundancy, with one supply shipped and the second ordered later. Cisco does not support the 650 W, 950 W or 930 W DC supplies on this model. Cooling is the C9K-T2-FANTRAY, up to five variable-speed fans with front-to-back airflow, tolerating one fan failure.

The chassis is 1.73 x 17.5 x 21.2 in (4.4 x 44.5 x 56.8 cm) and weighs 25.64 lb (11.63 kg) with two power supplies and the built-in fan. Input is 90 to 264 VAC and sound power is no greater than 76.7 LWAd dB. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 C.

Against the C9500-32QC, the 32C switches twice as much (6.4 Tbps against 3.2 Tbps), supports breakout, and uses 1600 W supplies in place of 650 W.
