H6Z01B: HPE 3PAR 8400 4-node Storage Base with All-inclusive Single-system Software (Factory Integrated in HPE rack)

H6Z01B is HPE's 4-node 3PAR 8400 storage base with All-inclusive Single-system Software, delivered factory integrated in an HPE rack. In HPE's standard-models list it sits directly after H6Y95B, the 2-node 8400 base.

The system has four controller nodes with six-core 2.2 GHz processors and 48 SFF drive bays across two 2U node enclosures. Built-in host connectivity is eight 16Gb/s FC ports and the four nodes offer four PCIe slots for adapters. HPE sizes the 8400 for up to 576 disks or 240 SSDs and 22 added drive enclosures.

To cross-check a replacement: PartSurfer lists the 2U 8400 right-side bezel as 786046-001, the controller assembly as 792653-001 (limited supply since December 2018, with the newer spare needing a higher OS level) and the node link cable as 683808-001. HP stopped supporting H6Z01B on 31 August 2026 according to PartSurfer.

Before ordering, check whether the target rack is a standard or storage-centric build. This option is the standard layout; the storage-centric variant is a separate, CTO-only option.

That variant is the H6Z03B storage-centric 4-node base. A 4N 8400 can be converted to the faster 8440 with the R0P09A conversion kit, and the HPE 3PAR and Nimble storage hub lists drives and enclosures.
