HPE's SN1600 Series QuickSpecs list R2J63A as the HPE SN1610E 32Gb 2-port Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter, one of HPE's Generation 7 32Gb HBAs. PartSurfer maps it to service spare P14422-001.
The card uses a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot and has two 32GFC ports that auto-negotiate to 32, 16 or 8 Gbps, so it can join an existing 16Gb or 8Gb fabric before the switches are upgraded. Two shortwave 32Gb SFP+ transceivers with LC connectors come pre-installed; longwave optics and single-mode cable are separate orders, and HPE notes that shortwave and longwave parts cannot be mixed on one link.
Both ports can run standard SCSI (FCP) and FC-NVMe traffic at the same time, so one adapter can reach older arrays and NVMe-over-FC storage on the same SAN. HPE lists VM-ID for per-virtual-machine prioritization and monitoring, CS_CTL LUN-level QoS, secure firmware updates and a hardware root of trust that blocks unauthenticated firmware. Firmware upgrades are non-disruptive.
How it differs from its siblings: the single-port SN1610E is R2J62A; the SN1620E (S4S01A) is the 2-port Secure HBA variant; the SN1600E 2-port (Q0L12A) is the previous Generation 6 card.
The card ships with a full-height bracket fitted and a low-profile bracket in the box. To confirm fit, check the HBA against your server in HPE SPOCK, and keep the same HBA model across hosts in a cluster so drivers stay consistent.
