2076-92F: IBM Storwize V7000 Expansion Enclosure – Gen2 – 92 3.5-inch drives

The 2076-92F is the dense expansion drawer for the second-generation Storwize V7000. It is a 5U rack unit with two expansion canisters, two power supplies, two expander modules and four fan modules, and it holds 92 3.5-inch drive slots laid out as four rows of 14 and three rows of 12. Two secondary expander modules sit in the middle of the chassis: one addresses 54 drive ports and the other 38.

Each canister has two SAS ports. Port 1 is the mandatory input from a control enclosure or the previous expansion enclosure, and port 2 is the optional output to the next one. The unit has four 12 Gb SAS ports and attaches to the 2076-524 and 2076-624 control enclosures only. Gen1 controllers will refuse it.

Each SAS chain on a V7000 has a chain weight limit of 10: the 12F and 24F count as 1 and the 92F counts as 2.5. For example, seven 24F plus one 92F make 9.5, and two 92F with one 12F and four 24F make exactly 10. Up to four dense drawers fit on one SAS chain. Drive slots are numbered 1 to 14 starting from the left rear slot.

The 92F feature codes for 3.5-inch drives run from AH70 (600 GB 15K) and AH71 (900 GB 15K) through AH73 to AH75 (10K), AH77 to AH7B (nearline 6 to 14 TB), AH7D and AH7E, and AH7J to AH7N (flash). The 12-slot sibling is the 2076-12F and the 24-slot one the 2076-24F; the control enclosure is the 2076-524, and the IBM Storwize and tape hub has the drives.
