N540-28Z4C-SYS-D is the Cisco NCS 540 system in its 28x10G+4x100G, DC configuration. It has 28 ports of 1GE/10GE and 4 ports of 40GE/100GE in a 1RU chassis, and it forwards up to 300 Mpps.
Power comes from two fixed, dual-redundant DC power supplies, and the fans are fixed and redundant with front-to-back airflow. The NCS 540 family takes a DC input range of -40 V to -72 V, with maximum power of 250 W for the family. The chassis measures 1.72 x 17.3 x 9.84 in (25 cm deep) and weighs 4.7 kg.
Inside is an 8-core 1.7 GHz x86 CPU with 8 GB of DRAM and 32 GB of storage. Timing support covers SyncE and PTP, with BITS, 1pps, 10MHz and ToD interfaces and Class B performance.
The system is compliant with NEBS GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE, and it meets GR-3108 Class I. It carries a DC surge rating under IEC 61000-4-5 of 1 kV differential mode and 1 kV common mode.
The software is Cisco IOS XR, ordered with XR-7.0-AC-TRK and TRK-7.0-54, and the NCS 540 feature set spans Layer 2 and Layer 3, MPLS, Segment Routing, multicast, QoS, timing and security. The Cisco DDoS Edge Protection solution is supported on this system. Management covers CLI, SNMP, NETCONF, gRPC, YANG and ZTP, and transceiver choices follow the Cisco transceiver compatibility matrix.
