HPE P15758-B21 Intel Xeon Gold 6246 Processor Kit for ProLiant DL380 Gen10

Kit P15758-B21 brings a Xeon Gold 6246 (HPE spare P12018-001) to the ProLiant DL380 Gen10, and PartSurfer lists a high-performance heat sink (875071-001) and a standard fan module (875075-001) alongside it. Intel's specifications give the 6246 12 cores and 24 threads at 3.30 GHz base and 4.20 GHz turbo, 24.75 MB of cache, a 165 W TDP, 3 UPI links and DDR4-2933 memory support up to 1 TB per socket; it is a 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lake) part launched in Q2 2019.

HPE ships processors above 130 W, plus a short list of exceptions, with the high-performance heatsink; at 165 W the 6246 kit carries the high-performance one. In HPE's ordering scheme the -L21 number is the first processor in a factory build and the -B21 kit is the second; HPE says the -B21 kit ships with two additional fans, and both sockets must hold the same model. HPE also states that field upgrades from 1st Gen (x1xx) to 2nd Gen (x2xx) processors are not supported, so a 6246 pairs with a server already running 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable processors.

Intel has issued an End of Servicing Updates notice for the 6246, with updates ending June 30, 2025. Before ordering, confirm the host is a ProLiant DL380 Gen10 and read the installed processor model; it must also be a 6246.
