ST600MM0208 is the standard 600GB model of the Seagate Enterprise Performance 10K HDD v8 SAS family, a 2.5-inch drive that spins at 10K RPM with a 2.9 ms average rotational latency and a 128MB data buffer. Sectors are 512 native, with block sizes of 512, 520 or 528 bytes selectable at format time.
Four read/write heads work at an areal density of 538 Gb/in2. Sustained transfer runs from 119 to 205 MiB/s (125 to 215 MB/s), and the dual-port SAS interface auto-negotiates 3.0, 6.0 and 12.0 Gb with 1200MB/s per port.
Zone bit recording, a dynamic spindle brake, Power Choice, RAID Rebuild, Idle Read After Write and an ECC burst correction length of 520 bits for 512-byte blocks are built in, with a 128-deep task set and support for up to 32 initiators.
The drive weighs 0.490 lb (0.222 kg). The annualized failure rate is 0.44% with an MTBF of 2,000,000 hours over a five-year service life under typical workload.
The self-encrypting 600GB version is ST600MM0218, and the 300GB standard and self-encrypting versions are ST300MM0048 and ST300MM0058.
