Cisco lists WS-C3850-16XS-E as the IP Services bundle built on the 12-port SFP+ 3850, shipped with a C3850-NM-4-10G network module and a 350WAC supply in 1 RU.
Sixteen 10G ports result: the base switch has twelve SFP+ ports and the C3850-NM-4-10G adds four more SFP+ receptacles.
The WS-C3850-12XS row of the network module matrix lists only the C3850-NM-4-10G; Cisco states the C3850-NM-4-1G and C3850-NM-2-10G are not supported on 12- and 24-port SFP+ models.
For the 12-port SFP+ platform Cisco quotes 320 Gbps of switching capacity, 227.28 Mpps, 4 GB of DRAM and 4 GB of flash.
Stacking bandwidth is 480 Gbps, and Cisco notes that SFP+ receptacles take Gigabit Ethernet SFPs as well as 10G optics.
Fit check: buyers needing IP Services on a 16 x 10G stackable switch. The IP Base twin is the WS-C3850-16XS-S; for 32 x 10G see the WS-C3850-32XS-E. The Cisco Catalyst 2960, 3850 and 9300 hub covers the wider range.
