The Dell PowerSwitch Z9264F-ON is a two-rack-unit, fixed form-factor top-of-rack and end-of-row switch with 64 QSFP28 ports. Each QSFP28 port runs at 1, 10, 25, 40, 50 or 100 GbE, and two extra SFP+ ports run at 1 and 10 GbE with multi-mode or single-mode optics.
Port speeds are set per cage: 64 x 100G native, 64 x 40G native, or breakout to 128 x 50G, 128 x 25G, 128 x 10G, 128 x 1G or 128 x 40G. The I/O side also carries one RJ-45 serial console port, one MicroUSB Type-B console port, one 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet management port and one USB Type-A port for external storage.
The control plane is a Denverton C3538 4-core CPU with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and 32 GB of SSD storage, and the switch starts in the open networking installation environment (ONIE) for loading a network operating system. Marketing model Z9264F-ON corresponds to regulatory model E23W.
Two hot-swappable AC or DC power supplies and four hot-swappable fan modules sit on the PSU side. Airflow is either normal (I/O side to PSU side) or reverse (PSU side to I/O side) depending on the SKU, and the fans and both power supplies in one switch must use the same direction.
The chassis measures 442 x 510 x 85.6 mm (17.4 x 20.0 x 3.37 in, W x D x H), with a PSU and fan tray handle that adds 1.38 in (35 mm). Rack rail brackets and M4 screws come with the switch, and because of its weight it mounts only in a four-post rack.
