HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 P56964-B21 Server, Xeon Gold 5218R, 32 GB, MR416i-a, 8SFF BC NC

This is a factory-configured HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 (2U): one Xeon Gold 5218R processor, 32 GB of registered DDR4, MR416i-a storage and eight 2.5-inch drive bays, per HPE PartSurfer's model description for P56964-B21. Intel lists the 5218R as a 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lake) processor with 20 cores / 40 threads, 2.10 GHz base and 4.00 GHz turbo, 27.5 MB cache and a 125 W TDP, with memory support up to DDR4-2667.

Because Intel caps the 5218R at DDR4-2667, memory in this model runs at no more than 2667 MT/s whatever the DIMM rating. Storage is handled by the Broadcom MegaRAID MR416i-a controller for HPE; the QuickSpecs state that Smart Array controllers are not supported on the DL380 Gen10 8SFF BC chassis, so replacement controllers come from the MegaRAID/tri-mode list. The NC tag means Network Choice, so instead of an embedded LOM the P56964-B21 configuration carries a FlexibleLOM chosen by HPE.

The 8SFF BC chassis is upgradeable to 24 SFF front plus 2 SFF rear bays, per HPE's QuickSpecs for its BC models. It ships with an 800 W Flex Slot supply and one socket filled. HPE lists three standard PCIe slots (x8, x16, x8 with dual M.2) and up to eight once a second, identical 5218R is installed. HPE's second-processor kit for this CPU is P24466-B21 (also listed on our site); the P24466-B21 kit ships with two extra fans.
