HPE P24466-B21 Intel Xeon Gold 5218R Processor Kit for ProLiant DL380 Gen10

Kit P24466-B21 brings a Xeon Gold 5218R (HPE spare P25090-001) to the ProLiant DL380 Gen10, and PartSurfer lists a standard heat sink (875070-001) and a standard fan module (875075-001) alongside it. Intel's specifications give the 5218R 20 cores and 40 threads at 2.10 GHz base and 4.00 GHz turbo, 27.5 MB of cache, a 125 W TDP, 2 UPI links and DDR4-2667 memory support up to 1 TB per socket; it is a 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lake) part launched in Q1 2020.

HPE ships processors above 130 W, plus a short list of exceptions, with the high-performance heatsink; at 125 W the 5218R kit carries the standard one. As a -B21 kit it is meant for the second socket, with the -L21 version used for the first in factory builds; HPE adds two fans in the -B21 kit and forbids mixing processor models. HPE also states that field upgrades from 1st Gen (x1xx) to 2nd Gen (x2xx) processors are not supported, so a 5218R pairs with a server already running 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable processors.

Intel has issued an End of Servicing Updates notice for the 5218R, with updates ending June 30, 2025. HPE pre-configured DL380 Gen10 models built on the 5218R include P56964-B21, P24844-B21. To confirm fit, check that the server is a DL380 Gen10 and that any processor already installed is also a 5218R.
