HPE P02501-B21 Intel Xeon Gold 6226 Processor Kit for ProLiant DL380 Gen10

P02501-B21 is HPE's option kit for adding an Intel Xeon Gold 6226 to a ProLiant DL380 Gen10; PartSurfer lists the processor itself as spare P12008-001, with a standard heat sink (875070-001) and a standard fan module (875075-001) in the kit. Intel's specifications give the 6226 12 cores and 24 threads at 2.70 GHz base and 3.70 GHz turbo, 19.25 MB of cache, a 125 W TDP, 3 UPI links and DDR4-2933 memory support up to 1 TB per socket; it is a 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable (Cascade Lake) part launched in Q2 2019.

HPE ships processors above 130 W, plus a short list of exceptions, with the high-performance heatsink; at 125 W the 6226 kit carries the standard one. In HPE's ordering scheme the -L21 number is the first processor in a factory build and the -B21 kit is the second; HPE says the -B21 kit ships with two additional fans, and both sockets must hold the same model. HPE also states that field upgrades from 1st Gen (x1xx) to 2nd Gen (x2xx) processors are not supported, so a 6226 pairs with a server already running 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable processors.

Its nearest sibling is the 6226R (kit P24467-B21): Intel lists 16 cores at 2.90 GHz and 150 W, launched Q1 2020. Intel has issued an End of Servicing Updates notice for the 6226, with updates ending June 30, 2025. To confirm fit, check that the server is a DL380 Gen10 and that any processor already installed is also a 6226.
