WS-C3850-48XS-E is the 48-port 10G member of the Catalyst 3850 line: 48 SFP+ ports that take 1G or 10G optics, 4 QSFP+ ports, a 750 W AC power supply with front-to-back airflow, and the IP Services feature set in 1 RU.
Cisco lists it as a standalone switch. Its row in the data sheet shows no StackWise-480 and no StackPower, and it takes no network module because the QSFP+ ports are fixed.
It is the fastest 3850 in Cisco's performance table: 1,280 Gbps switching capacity and 909 Mpps forwarding. It also has more memory than other 3850 models, with 8 GB DRAM and 8 GB flash against 4 GB and 2 GB on most of the range, plus 96,000 FNF flow entries.
Cisco also lists a WS-C3850-48XS-F-S with back-to-front airflow, so check the rack airflow direction before ordering.
The IP Base version of this switch is WS-C3850-48XS-S. For a stackable 10G SFP+ 3850, WS-C3850-32XS-E has 24 SFP+ ports plus an 8 x 10G module. Our Catalyst 2960, 3850 and 9300 hub lists the 3850 fibre models.
