Cisco Catalyst IE-3300-8P2S-E Rugged PoE+ Switch

This is the PoE base model of Cisco's Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series: a fanless, DIN-rail industrial switch with 8 Gigabit Ethernet copper ports that supply PoE or PoE+, plus 2 Gigabit SFP uplinks. The -E suffix means it ships with the Network Essentials licence; the -A version adds Network Advantage features such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, multicast routing and MACsec-256.

The base unit has a 240 W PoE budget. Adding a PoE expansion module (IEM-3300-8P or IEM-3300-16P, which only work with PoE base switches) raises the total to 360 W across up to 24 PoE ports, and non-PoE IEM-3300 modules take the switch to 26 Gigabit ports. Power is redundant dual DC input from 9.6 to 60 VDC, but PoE needs 48 VDC and PoE+ needs 54 VDC, so pair it with a 54 VDC supply such as the PWR-IE240W-PCAC-L. Switch power consumption is 32 W, not counting PoE.

It runs Cisco IOS XE with 4 GB DRAM and 1.5 GB of user flash, supports IOx edge applications, and is rated -40 to +75°C in a fan- or blower-cooled enclosure (+70°C vented, +60°C sealed), IP30. It measures 15.2 x 9.1 x 13.5 cm and weighs 1.7 kg, with a rated MTBF of 611,350 hours.

Siblings: the IE-3300-8T2S-E has the same ports without PoE, and the IE-3400-8P2S-E is the IE3400 PoE base model, with a 480 W expansion budget and added features such as PRP. When replacing a unit, match the licence suffix and note any expansion module fitted, since it is ordered separately.
