Cisco lists the C9500-40X as a Catalyst 9500 switch with 40 x 10G SFP/SFP+ ports and two power supply slots, ordered as C9500-40X-A or C9500-40X-E. The chassis is 1 RU and measures 1.73 x 17.5 x 21.5 in (4.4 x 44.5 x 56.7 cm). With two power supplies and the built-in fan it weighs 25.75 lb (11.68 kg).
Uplinks come from a network module: either the C9500-NM-8X with eight 10G SFP ports or the C9500-NM-2Q with two 40G QSFP ports. A blank module can be installed instead when no uplinks are needed.
The power supplies are the PWR-C4-950WAC-R for AC or the PWR-C4-950WDC-R for DC, and the cooling is the FAN-T4-R= Type 4 front-to-back fan. Input voltage is 115 to 230 VAC. Acoustic sound power is no greater than 68.3 LWAd dB. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 C (32 to 104 F) and storage is -20 to 65 C.
The C9500-40X differs from the C9500-32C, which has 32 QSFP28 ports at 40G or 100G, takes the C9K-PWR-1600WAC-R or C9K-PWR-1600WDC-R supplies and the C9K-T2-FANTRAY= fan tray, and runs louder at no more than 76.7 LWAd dB.
