Cisco lists the N3K-C3172TQ-10GT as the Nexus 3172TQ: 48 fixed 10GBASE-T RJ-45 ports (100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps) and 6 fixed QSFP+ ports, each usable as 4 x 10GbE or 40GbE. Switching capacity is 1.4 Tbps with forwarding up to 1 billion packets per second, at line rate on all ports for Layer 2 and Layer 3 traffic, and the shared buffer is 12 MB.

The control plane has 4 GB of system memory and 2 GB of boot flash; the later 3172TQ-XL revision has 8 GB and 16 GB. NX-OS Release 6.0(2)U2(1) or later supports the 3172TQ. Power comes from two redundant supplies: NXA-PAC-500W and NX-PAC-500W-B for AC, or NXA-PDC-500W and NX-PDC-500W-B for DC. Typical draw is 360 W and maximum is 440 W, with 1228 BTU/hr typical and 1501 BTU/hr maximum heat.

Cooling is three plus one redundant hot-swap fans, with forward (port-side exhaust) or reversed (port-side intake) airflow, and a failed fan must be swapped within 1 minute. The chassis is 1.72 x 17.3 x 19.7 in (4.4 x 43.9 x 50.5 cm) and weighs 22.0 lb (10 kg). Operating temperature is 0 to 40 C.

Cisco lists the 3172PQ as the SFP+ version, with 48 SFP+ ports in place of 10GBASE-T. The 3172TQ-32T enables 32 of the 48 copper ports, and the other 16 are unlocked with the N3K-16T-UPG= licence.

Cisco announced end-of-sale for this part on February 25, 2022, with last date of support February 28, 2027 and the N9K-C93108TC-FX3P named as its replacement.

See the Cisco switches category and the N3K-C3064TQ-10GT Nexus 3064-T for a related 10GBASE-T Nexus.
