HPE BLc7000 Onboard Administrator with KVM Option

456204-B21 is the HPE BLc7000 Onboard Administrator with KVM option. HPE lists it as the part to order when a second, redundant BladeSystem Onboard Administrator is wanted in a c7000 enclosure. Its spares are 503826-001 and 708046-001, both named by HPE as OA modules with DDR2 memory (708046-001 as the R2 version).

The c7000 enclosures 681844-B21, 763850-B21 and AD361D already include one Onboard Administrator with KVM as standard, and the TAA-compliant 681844-B22 enclosure includes two. HPE states that the c7000 OA with KVM must be the active OA to provide the enclosure KVM feature. The KVM menu has an OA CLI button that lets an administrator log into the OA and force a takeover, so the OA with KVM becomes the standby.

HPE says the c7000 Onboard Administrator can be mixed with the OA with KVM, but the OA firmware sync feature cannot update mismatched modules. Mismatched firmware versions have to be updated through the GUI or CLI from a file, using http, ftp, tftp, a local client file or a USB key.

The Onboard Administrator reports asset, inventory, thermal and power data, including real-time power use per server and per enclosure.
