SFP-10G-ZR is a Cisco multirate 10GBASE-ZR, 10GBASE-ZW and OTU2/OTU2e SFP+ module. Cisco notes that the ZR interface is not specified in the 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard and is built to Cisco specifications. It transmits and receives at 1530 to 1565 nm over single-mode fiber (G.652) and reaches up to about 80 km, with a dual LC/PC connector. APC patch cords are not supported.
Cisco gives transmit average power of 0 to +4.0 dBm, a minimum side-mode suppression ratio of 30 dB and a minimum extinction ratio of 9 dB. Receiver sensitivity is -24 dBm for 10GE LAN/WAN without FEC and -27 dBm for OTU2/OTU2e with FEC. Receiver overload is -7 dBm and the damage threshold is +5 dBm. Maximum chromatic dispersion is 1600 ps/nm with a 3 dB penalty.
Short links need attenuation: Cisco calls for an inline 15 dB attenuator under 5 km, 10 dB from 5 to 25 km and 5 dB from 25 to 45 km.
Power consumption is 1.5 W, operating temperature is the commercial 0 to 70 C range and storage is -40 to 85 C. The bail latch is green.
Cisco also sells SFP-10G-ZR-S, the S-Class version, which does not support FCoE, and SFP-10G-ZR-I for the industrial temperature range at up to 70 km.
More 10G optics are in the Cisco modules category, including the SFP-10G-ER 10GBASE-ER SFP+ and the SFP-10G-LR 10GBASE-LR SFP+.
