WS-X45-SUP8L-E Cisco Catalyst 4500E Supervisor Engine 8L-E

The Cisco WS-X45-SUP8L-E is the Catalyst 4500E Supervisor Engine 8L-E, with four nonblocking 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ uplinks or four nonblocking 1 Gigabit Ethernet SFP uplinks, and a 10/100/1000 RJ-45 console and management port. External USB and SD card support are included.

Switching capacity is 560 Gbps with 225 Mpps for IPv4 and Layer 2 bridging and 110 Mpps for IPv6. Memory is 4 GB of SDRAM with 2G of boot flash, and the SD-X45-2GB-E is an optional 2 GB DRAM upgrade. Hardware holds 128,000 Flexible NetFlow entries and delivers line-rate 10G MACsec encryption on all uplinks and WS-X47XX line cards.

It runs Cisco IOS XE only, release 3.8.1 or later, and ships with a universal image holding LAN Base, IP Base and Enterprise Services, with the feature level set by licence. IP Base is C4500E-IPB and the upgrade to Enterprise Services is C4500E-IP-ES. For a spare unit the licence SKUs are C4500E-LIC-PAK, C4500E-IPB-S and C4500E-IP-ES-S.

Chassis support covers the 4503-E, 4506-E, 4507R+E and 4507R-E (hardware revision 2.0 or higher), at 48 Gbps per slot in the first three and 24 Gbps per slot in the 4507R-E. The 4507R+E and 4507R-E allow 1+1 supervisor redundancy in slots 3 and 4. Maximum planning power is 240 W active and 120 W standby, and the module weighs 6.04 lb (2.94 kg).
